Broaching fasteners are permanently attached in non-ductile materials
such as printed circuit board, polycarbonate, acrylic, glass epoxy and resin
laminate components as well as ductile panels with a maximum hardness
of 60HRB such as aluminium.
Broaching fasteners are available in nut, stud, standoff, flare-mounted
standoff, quick release standoff and panel access assembly styles and
help to reduce loose components, reducing the risk of loose hardware
being lost or falling out and damaging internal components.
Featuring an axially knurled shank or collar, the serrations are designed
to cut into the panel material as it is installed, resulting in an interference
fit that offers good torque-to-turn and push-out resistance.
Installation is simple, prepare the specified hole and using an appropriate
punch and anvil, apply a parallel squeezing force to press the part into the
hole. When installing in printed circuit board broaching fasteners are
recommended for use in non-plated holes.
