Installation Method
PROFILED PUNCH ANVIL PUNCH OR HAMMER ANVIL PUNCH OR HAMMER PROFILED PUNCH ANVIL ANVIL
Punch or drill specified hole size. Ensure that you are using the correct gauge fastener for the panel thickness used. Place part in anvil and locate panel hole over spigot.
Using a profiled punch, ensuring panel is held perpendicular to the punch and anvil face, apply a parallel squeezing force to form the correct spigot profile.
Alternatively, a domed anvil or a ball bearing and hammer can be used to form the spigot profile, however this will not give optimum performance.
For optimum performance, installing with a profiled punch is highly recommended. A flat punch can also be used but will result in reduced push-out performance.
Panel thickness ranges shown are preferred range. Other sizes are subject to availability or special order.

Performance
All performance figures are averages obtained over a range of installations for steel parts in mild steel panels and should be used for guidance only. Fastener material, panel material, hole preparation, installation tooling and method can affect part performance. Actual in-use torque to turn resistance increases with clamping load. We always recommend that you carry out your own tests in the actual application. Please call our sales team and we will be happy to provide you with samples as well as offering technical assistance.

Info
Round Rivet Bushes for self-clinching nut hole sizes provide strong reusable captivated threads in panels too thin to be conventionally tapped.   They can be installed into panels as thin as 0.5mm and do not suffer from the maximum hardness or centreline to edge limitations of self-clinching nuts so are suitable for installation into panels of any hardness such as hard stainless steels or in close to edge applications. Featuring a radially serrated shoulder, this style of rivet bush offers excellent torque to turn resistance while maximising spigot strength to resist push-out. This fastener is designed as a direct replacement to self-clinching nuts where the hole has been punched but a clinch nut is not suitable. It can also be used where a clinch nut has been removed, without any of the issues arising from trying to replace with another clinch nut. Manufactured to suit a specific panel thickness, we can manufacture parts with custom dimensions to suit your particular application.   Available from stock in metric thread sizes in electro zinc plated steel and stainless steel. Ideally Rivet Bushes should be installed using a press with a suitability profiled punch by applying a parallel squeezing force, however they can be installed using a hammer and ball bearing to form the spigot profile.
