DONCASTER COMPANY SAVES CHRISTMAS CARD MONEY FOR BLUEBELL WOOD CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

Doncaster engineering fastener supplier Northern Precision has donated £300 to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, in lieu of buying corporate Christmas cards.

Presenting the cheque at today’s Grand Opening of the company’s new £500,000 headquarters on the Durham Lane industrial zone, director Arthur Smith commented: “We felt that the high cost of overprinted greetings cards could be put to better use if we used conventional cards and donated the balance to a good cause.

“Bluebell Wood needs around £1.8 million each year to pay for essential staff, physiotherapy, medication and counseling, for example, and if every company in Doncaster followed our need then the hospice’s fund-raising efforts would be helped enormously.”

Northern Precision’s Grand Opening was attended by a host of customers, business associates and friends, as well as the company’s directors and employees.

The new premises are the latest stage in Northern Precision’s success story that has continued since it establishment in 1996 in a back-bedroom in the Hyde Park district.

Today the company maintains 5,000 standard stock lines of fasteners supplied to an end user and distributor customer base that accounts for 44 million individual fasteners and an annual turnover of £1.75 million, 27 per cent of which is exported.

Northern Precision fasteners are exported to companies in the USA, Chile, Portugal and Russia, for example.
